Hugo Chavez is almost 100% right
“Let’s leave this clear,” Mr. Chávez said during a live broadcast of his Sunday television program. “Golf is a bourgeois sport,” he said, repeating the word “bourgeois” as if he were swallowing castor oil. Then he went on, mocking the use of golf carts as a practice illustrating the sport’s laziness.
He then answered the question: “It is not.”
So why do I say that he's "almost" 100% right?
Simple. He made the crucial error of referring to golf as a "sport".

What definition of "sport" are you using?
Well, at a minimum, I'm looking for physical exertion beyond that required for a leisurely stroll on a manicured lawn. There are other criteria, but that will do for now.
I never tried the game - my poor concentration, hand-eye coordination and "0 for life" record in Proctor Little League tells me not to bother. But boules/bocci, etc. would be ruled out with RR criteria. Pool. Marbles. Well maybe marbles isn't gonna cut it.
All in all it is largely a bourgeois pasttime - especially outside of US and a few other places.
Brother Chavez - don't you know that if you outlaw putters, only outlaws will have putters?
Prefer a democratically voted through property, luxury-use or VAT and/or environmental impact tax.
